Hola Merfolk!

An author online recommended a bunch of ocean themed books and The Maracot Deep by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was one of them. He doesn’t just right crime fiction but science fiction. Trigger Warning: There are derogatory words. I didn’t expect it. Along with being a writer, Doyle was a physician, who worked on a whaling ship and reflects in his writing.

I never considered placing the Atlanteans still living and under the sea. It’s an interesting premise. The marine biology and oceanography are mixed in with made-up words for the gigantic creatures Doyle creates. I loved the bubble contraption that sinks Professor Maracot and his team to the bottom of the sea. Some interesting technology is revealed when they discover the Atlanteans.

The Maracot Deep is a quick read just over 100 pages and very imaginative.
