Hola Merfolk!

Silver Light by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox is a fun read I found from reading the Midlife Mermaid Trilogy that J.R. Rain wrote with H.P. Mallory.

A private investigator mermaid with a Dark Master is a story I can sink my teeth into. And Alexis does. She has some vampire attributes like eating people, except the person was already dead, and she’d rather eat fish. Occasionally, she has this voice in her head—the Dark Master. I think the DM is more like a walk-in. Alexis has a pretty cool life that she thanks a merman for biting her. I enjoyed the world building where Alexis has lived a long life and sometimes she uses slang from the forties. Those years have given the twenty-five year old the moxie to beat up the bad guy. Silver Light has a bit of a gumshoe detective novel feel, but instead of soft shoes, Alexis uses a fin to find a sunken yacht and drives a Jeep through Seattle, occasionally getting stuck behind a Honda Civic.

Silver Light is book one of the Alexis Silver Novel series that I might circle back to later.
