What To Expect

Hola Merfolk! I’m Melissa Ceseña, and I am a paranormal romance author. Here’s what to expect from my Tales and Tea blog. Most blogs are supposed to be about one topic, but mine will be about more than one. A well-rounded point of view is necessary to finding correlations through diverse topics.

I do a lot of research through reading, videos, and events. Connecting the dots to me means not just researching mermaids and the ocean for my books. As I researched mermaids, too many people were having experiences with them. It was undeniable that mermaids exist. In her book Rebel Gene, Kerry Cassidy mentions merfolk in the Pacific Ocean are at war with the U.S. Navy. She said the merfolk are angry at the military for destroying their ocean. Researching mermaids took me down a path of other cryptids. Then researching the ocean goes down an environmental rabbit hole.

In my books, sometimes the military is the bad guy, but not always. There are good and bad people in all organizations. And some in between. I find researching the Nazi’s and The World Wars make great inspiration for developing a complex villain and plot.

I will post about books on esoteric knowledge, revisionist history, philosophy, religion, paranormal romance, environmentalism, and books that uncover the mysteries of the universe. From time to time, I will post a vegan recipe and an update on Captain Paul Watson, since my MerSea series (Coming Soon!) is inspired by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

The more I research, the more I find everything is connected. I keep going back to old books. The past authors, poets, musicians, and artists told us what we are uncovering now. I’m excited to learn the truth no matter how scary. Isn’t that the fun of it all—being frightened and then facing those fears?
